Stories are moving on their own from bottom of backlog to top of current.
Stories are moving on their own from *bottom* of backlog to *top* of current.
It's a set of stories. We moved them a few times out of current and back to the bottom of the backlog, but they kept going back to the top of current. We now moved them to the top of the icebox so hopefully they will not go to the top of current again.

Inappropriate?Sorry for the frustration, it looks like some stories are misbehaving again. After you move the stories to the bottom of the backlog, do they appear back at the top of current immediately or some point after they stop spinning or after you reload the project?

Inappropriate?Hi - they move on their own sometime after they are moved to the bottom of the backlog. IE not immediately - not sure when or if there is a specific trigger. We go about our work and then find that the bugs are at the top of current again. Thanks for investigating!!

Inappropriate? This is happening again today so I just moved everything from the backlog into the icebox to try to control the problem. I look in history and it looks like a bunch of the stories were changed to unscheduled - what does that mean? Do you guys have any leads on how to fix this?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Heidi,
When you move a story from the backlog to the icebox, it changes the state from unstarted to unscheduled.
We weren't able to reproduce the problem ourselves, can you point us to a specific story and situation? -
Inappropriate? There is one story doing this now, since the rest are in the icebox. It's called
Points to Break 403672 It moved to the top of current. If you look in its history it says that it was unscheduled. But it is not in the icebox. -
Inappropriate?Hi Heidi,
I just wanted to give you an update. We looked at the history of of the "Points to Break" story and it definitely ended up in the wrong place. We have any idea on why this is happening, but we are still trying to figure out the best way to fix it.
The situation normally (baring an undiscovered bug) happens when two users are moving stories at same time. Under certain situations the server does not know how to reconcile the two changes, so it moves story second story to the top of the given story group (groups being accepted stories, in progress stories, unstarted stories, etc). In theory the second user will then see the story at the top and move to the appropriate place.
It seems that this may be the wrong approach and we're looking into a better one. Perhaps instead of moving the story to the top of the story group we should just flash an error and leave the story were it was originally. Thoughts?

Inappropriate?I don't think two people are moving the story at the same time, but I could be wrong.
I think you should try flashing the message and leaving the story where it was originally as the next step. Then we can see if that solves this problem.
By the way, we have seen this problem with more than one story. I added a second story with ID 410845 under the original story 403672. Then we can see if the second story also moves.
Thanks again for your help. -
Inappropriate?Did you implement this solution?
-
Inappropriate? We are moving forward with this solution and hoping to deploy the fix sometime next week.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks. This has not been happening lately and I was wondering if you fixed it. I don't understand the condition that creates this bug. Anyhow, thanks for your work on it!
-
Inappropriate?Hi Heidi, we deployed some fixes last night that should improve the story moving problems you were having. The issues normally occur when two or more people are moving stories at the same time via drag drop, menu actions or starting them.
Let us know if you see any other issues with stories moving to random places.
