Shorter iterations for fast projects
Hey I first wanted to say your tracker is great and love using it at work. The only thing I would like to see added with Pivotal right now is the ability to have shorter iterations. I work as a Flash developer and frequently have project timelines that move very quickly and the week long iterations make targetting release dates difficult and the velocity estimation becomes way off. Much of the time I only have 1 or 2 developers working on a project and we think it would be great to have 1-3 day iteration times. The majority of our projects never go over a 3 week period, so having faster iterations would help more accurately plan for meeting release dates and getting a better sense of velocity on shorter projects

Inappropriate?Hi, thanks for the feedback! Custom iteration lengths are certainly doable, and I can see that being really useful for shorter projects. How long would your iterations be, ideally? In the order of days? Our of curiosity, how many stories on average does your team complete in that amount of time?

Inappropriate?Hi Dan and thanks for the reply. Ideally we'd have iterations as short as a single day. The last project we used Pivotal on was a 3 week microsite, and we finished the project with just over 100 stories. So on a per-day basis we tackle somewhere around 4-8 stories a day.
In a simple scenario, we'd like to be able to sit down on Monday to add stories and project how many tasks we can get done by a client-review day on Wednesday, and know how much we work we can fit in by then.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? We do daily iterations, not weekly. Is there a way to handle that?
Thanks!
François
