Set # of iterations to use for calculating velocity to more than 4?

For my purposes (and I admit I'm not using PT in exactly the way it's intended), I would love to be able to set the number of iterations used for velocity calculation to something larger (ideally much larger) than 4. Ideal for me would be "life of the project"; any chance at all that something like that could be added as an option (with appropriate caveats about how it's not recommended for normal use if it's not for some reason)?
