Pin stories to a release/group
I tend to have multiple Arcs of development active at a particular time, which I need to track separately and together. I'd like to pin all of these to a Release (typically without a release date), and monitor the stories as a group. Stories in the icebox need not be pinned for my needs, since I only need to group those I'm working on soon.
The UI need only change to support selecting the active Arc/Release, and then hide all other stories.

Inappropriate?We are considering making it possible to tie a release to a label, so the release will move after the last story with any one of its labels. For the time being, you can approximate this behavior by searching on the label, as Jonathan pointed out. -
Inappropriate?Pinning stories to a release also has the nice advantage that the release marker looks cool... it would be nice if it had the usefulness to match it's appearance :) -
Inappropriate?FWIW, I use labels to group stories into a release, and would prefer not to have the release marker automatically float below the last story. The reason: we often (always?) have stories that we want to apply to a particular release as a hotfix. Example: v4.1 is releasable at some point, but we discover a bug in QA that we want to fix, but that is not a release blocker. We'll go ahead and release 4.1, click finish on the Release story, and keep a 4.1 story active.
I guess this could still work if clicking finish on the floating release story would make it inactive and stay put in the list of finished stories.
