It would be nice to have an easy way to split a story in two.
Often when discussing a story, we discover it is two unique stories. It would be nice to be able to "clone" it, instead of having to create a new story, copy lots of the information, drag it to the right place. And then it doesn't have the history associated with it.

Inappropriate? This would be a useful feature. We've had something along this lines planned for a while, but it's been low priority. We'll review it again, thanks for the suggestion!

Inappropriate? When splitting a story, it would be nice to be able to drag out the history that is relevant to the new story. Oftentimes, a story starts getting overloaded with peripheral issues that should be separate stories, and it would be great to be able to both clean up the original story, and move the discussion over to the new story.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? This would be really valuable in the project I'm currently working on, as the business requirements collected thus far are in desperate need of refinement. Such a feature would make pivotal useful from a much earlier point in the planning process.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate? Many times a story in the tracker ends up being comprised of multiple tasks/features/etc
It would be great to have a 'split this story' button that allows me to turn 1 story into 2 ( and repeat! ), with each new story referencing what it was split from.
I'm not quite sure what the ideal ux would be.
