Hovers are killing me!

Going through stories, I love to be able to hover to check out new comments or read the descriptions. Lately, however, doing so causes the story list to re-scroll, thereby making the hover quickly appear and disappear, and leaving me lost (it leaves me scrolled to the top of the column--sometimes far from where I was). ARGH!
