Inappropriate?I like it. People might think it's "story pollution", and claim it's a slippery slope which will lead us to a world where we slice/dice/assign every story in thousands of different ways, leading to confusion.
But in the projects I work on design is one of the main efforts and it would be nice to be able to see, at a glance, what's up with design in the project.
And of course, +1 on the rainbow icon.

Inappropriate?we're managing design stories as a separate project to prevent pollution. would love to be able to set many to one, or one to many dependencies across projects. -
Inappropriate?love this idea, we should also add a define or specification story. This will allow to keep every thing in the same project.
