Custom / freely set point values
There is no reason why points should be limited to any maximum, except that it doesn't go well with the graphic interface.
Custom point values should be added, or point values could be set to arbitrary values (ie. from 0 to potentially infinite). That way very different tasks can co-exist (ones that take a few hours and ones that take several days)

Inappropriate?I'm frustrated that this doesn't exist. It's making long-term, big-bucket planning difficult.

Inappropriate?I agree. It would be nice to grow the list up to at least to 20-40 using the fibonacci sequence. I understand the impact to presentation, it may look different. Maybe show the value like a badge on the little bar graph images when it goes over 8 Story Points.
