Inappropriate?Hi, what exactly happens when you try to move the stories? Is it possible that the stories are moving to the current iteration, as described in the FAQ?

Inappropriate?Hi,
I see. It seems that if the current iteration has less than velocity points then you can't move the story to backlog. Seems kinda limiting, no? -
Inappropriate?zenMonkey, emergent iterations are indeed the default but if you want to accomplish what you described then you can enable 'Commit Mode' and turn it on by clicking the diamond ring on the Current panel. That will allow you to put any number of stories into Current. When that iteration ends, you'll go back to emergent iterations until you click the ring again.

Inappropriate? This is extremely counterintuitive. My assumption, after reading some of the FAQ and discussions on estimating bugs and chores, was that this was another control the software was trying to enforce. I think it's pretty odd that my first reaction to not being able to drag and drop as I expected was not "browser bug" or "I'm doing it wrong" but "this must be more dogma."
Since I didn't have the "Backlog" pane open, changing Current stories from "Started" to "Not Started" (after finding this thread) made them seem to disappear completely.
There are some fantastic things about Tracker, but my impression after a week of use is that your UI is a combination of too much magic and too much dogma. Some suggestions to fix this:
* If I try to drag a story from Current to Icebox, don't just refuse to do it. Instead, complete the drag and show a tooltip or popup that says, "Changed project from "Started" to "Not Started." Or just complete the drag and update the state without telling me about it. Obviously I'm taking it off my started list if I put it back in the Icebox.
* Given that you support but strongly disagree with estimating chores and bugs, have the help text link to your argument against estimating *and* the FAQ item that says how to do it anyways.
* Add help text for the different panes, and why you would want them open or not, to the interface. (There's no description in the interface, and the only description of the Icebox in the FAQ is under a question titled, "Can stories be imported from CSV?")
Again - there's a lot of good here or I wouldn't be bothering to complain.
