This just happened to me again today, but even worse because it actually lost about 100 words because when the "Less words than last save" dialog popped up I was in the middle of typing and it saved anyways when I hit enter, navigating me away from the page.
Please reset my # of distractions for 2/18 & 2/19 back to zero and correct the total score.

Distraction count wrongI just finished my entry for today (2/18/10). I wrote continuously without stopping, but there are two big chunks in my graph that say I wrote nothing during that time. As a result my distraction count is listed as 2 when it should be 0.
Since this is taken into account with the scores, I would really like to get that reset to zero. Up until today I had a perfect score for the month and don't want to lose it due to issues with the site.
Thanks!

All of this happened without me leaving leaving the 750words tab. I was logged into facebook when I started writing and I am still logged in now.
What really gets me is that I was told that it successfully saved my post. I've been making sure to hit command+s when finishing up each entry just to be safe and it has been working well so far. Today was no different, hit cmd+s and the little green dialog popped up and said it was saved successfully.
When I hit the link to the stats page, the javascript alert warning me that there were unsaved changes popped up. So I hit cancel, and cmd+s again. Same green success message. When I hit stats the next time the alert did not show up and I was redirected to the stats page.
When I got there it said I only had 630 words and my entry was incomplete. I clicked on the entry for today, and a modal dialog popped up saying that it looked like there were unsaved changes and that I could refresh the page to get them back. Refreshing didn't help though, and the words were still lost.
No need to go through the secret logs, I know I was really happy with the last paragraph this morning but by now I don't even remember the gist of it so it doesn't matter that much. I would like it if the minute count got reset to the 12 minutes it took me however.
Can you tell me what happens behind the scenes when you hit command+s?

I went ahead and completed this entry anyways, though I'm pretty upset with losing those 133 words. They were some of the better ones that came out of this experiment so far. I guess I should have learned my lesson and been saving my own copy by now.
Please reset the time it took me to complete the words today back to the original 12 minutes so that at least my stats will be accurate. Thanks.

Getting a dialog that words are missing and I should reload.I wrote 763 words and manually saved them using cmd+s after completing them. I got a successful green save box on the top left. I then tried to navigate to the stats page but got the "you haven't saved yet" dialog. I hit cancel to stay on the page, and cmd+s again. Then I naviagted to the state page, but it only listed 630 words or so and going back to the words page gives me an error dialog saying that some are missing and I should reload.
reloading puts me at exactly the same spot I was at before, with approximately 630 words.
Why didn't the manual save work? That should never return a successful message unless my data was truly saved. Is there any way I can pull the data out of my cache or something?

Looks good, thanks! I'm mainly concerned with the aggregate stats, having a 0 wpm counted in there was really bugging me. Thanks again, love the site so far and will definitely be doing this as regularly as possible. – supaspoida, on January 14, 2010 02:05

My name is Lar Van Der Jagt on the site, the entry I'd like to update is for Jan 12th and I'd like it updated to 26 minutes, the time I actually spent typing. Thanks so much! – supaspoida, on January 14, 2010 01:43

Definitely understand as I'm a developer too. Does kind of suck waking up earlier with the intention of writing and having your work lost though.
Is there anything you can do to reset yesterdays stats to something reasonable? It's not a big deal but that 15 hour's in there really does bug me considering it was a site glitch which kept me from getting my work in. Thanks!

Wending, I am getting this issue as well, I have opened up another complaint here regarding it. Definitely a second issue, seems like there was a bad deploy somewhere between yesterday and today. – supaspoida, on January 13, 2010 13:23

Word count not working at allTrying to fill out my 750 words today, and the word count isn't working at all. It doesn't update, so I have no way of knowing if they are being tracked or not, or if they are being saved. Additionally the text box is not resizing, and scroll bars appear once I reach the end of it.

Is there at least some way I can get my stats reset to something reasonable? I left for work and picked up where I left off when I got home, but it definitely didn't take me 15 hours to write all of that.
btw, love the expanded stats (weather, psychic breakdown etc). just makes it all the more important that the time stats be reset though!

This is what happened for me, to the best of my recollection:
I wrote my 750 words, checked that it had been saved recently, then clicked on the stats link at the bottom of the page. A very confusing dialog popped up warning me that navigating away from the page could lose some of my work. I clicked cancel, thinking that would let me go back and save the text. not finding a save link, I clicked stats again and clicked okay this time. When I got to the stats page, it only listed about 100 of my words.
I could be a bit off about this, but the key takeaway is that the alert that popped up was not clear what would happen if I clicked cancel vs. okay, and the expected result did not happen when I clicked cancel.

Lost data for todayI just finished my 750 words, and navigated away from the page. when I checked the stats, I only had 100 words, despite having written over 800. What happened? Is it possible to restore this data?
