Get Satisfaction & Zendesk session 02/25 didn't seem to be about "advice, ideas & how-tos"Just wanted to share with someone who might be able to affect change for your next training seminar why I attended only about 3 minutes of the GS & Zendesk "Bridging Community & Support" WebEx conference.
I arrived late, just in time to see the presenter cover what a GS thread looks like (already knew that or I wouldn't have been on the invite list in the first place), point out all the "features" (most of which contribute considerably more clutter than information), and listen to her read — in detail — a transparently fictitious sample question and answer regarding movie-theater popcorn on an AMC Theaters GS community.
I'm no longer sure what the purpose of this session was, but I wasn't attending to get a tour of a product I already use, or listen to fake threads read verbatim. I thought the session was supposed to be about "advice, ideas & how-tos" relating to using GS & ZD together, so I bailed.-

Anonymous FIRST POST, to get answers about a site or service you're CONSIDERING.
If you want to followup after getting an answer, then you must sign up. -

That's true, they can search GS — IF they come to the forum. But if they're using the Feedback widget to try to ask a question, they can't get anywhere without creating an account. -

Right, but what about someone who is NOT a member of my site yet, and wants to ask a question before joining — a question that there may already be an answer for in previous GS posts? Why should they have to create an account just to ask a question that there's already a PUBLIC answer for? -

I find it rather off-putting to have a simple question about a site, and in order to get that question answered, I have to sign up for a completely different site (GetSatisfaction).
I have a Feedback widget on my site, and I'd like people to be able to ask a question and get search results from my forums back without having to sign in/sign up. If they don't find the answer, THEN it's OK to make them sign up.
