Megan Cytron replied on March 09, 2010 01:34 to the question "follow up" in Trazzler:
Hi Meg--
Nearly all of the questions that you will find here that pertain to voting are from past contests. We've addressed these past issues that people had (in particular, the sign-up process was more complicated during our other contests). We listened to the feedback that we received and were able to streamline the sign-up and voting considerably.
You don't mention what the specific issues are... If you send people to the sign-up page link that we provided and then tell them to go to your trip page once they are signed up and click "save," I think you'll find that people won't encounter problems. If you just send them to your trip page, they may not realize that they need to sign up to have their votes count.

Megan
Megan Cytron replied on March 08, 2010 21:54 to the idea "Don't enter contests determined by votes if you're competitive!" in Trazzler:
Hi Edna--
Sorry to hear about the contest-induced stress!
Our contests do have both kinds of prizes--Editors' Choice and People's Choice. We (the editors) will choose our favorite trip in each theme and send these five writers to San Francisco. The People's Choice prize, as you know, is determined by voting. If you go for votes, then your destiny is in your own hands. If you try for an editorial prize, you have to accept the subjectivity of editorial decisions...
Some practical info:
You can see who has voted for your trip by clicking "View All #" in the box that says "# like this trip."
I recommend that you ask people to...
1. sign up first at http://www.trazzler.com/signup
2. then go to your trip page to vote.
We've found that this approach eliminates a lot of confusion.
best of luck,
Megan

Could it be that you can only see them when you are logged in? Trips that are in "draft" status and awaiting a photo can only be seen by the person who wrote the trip (we do this so photographers can approve the user of their photos without the trip being available to the general public).

Megan Cytron replied on March 07, 2010 14:31 to the question "How do you determine word count?" in Trazzler:
Hi Edna--
We won't kick it out if it's just one or two words over. I use this word counter or the one in MS Word:
http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/s...
That said, if it feels too long (in other words there is repetition, too many extraneous details, or too many activities crammed in one "trip"), then the trip doesn't really fit Trazzler's style. We do recognize that some places are more complicated than others and require a bit more description.

Megan
Megan Cytron replied on March 03, 2010 16:30 to the question "What URL do you send people to vote for your story?" in Trazzler:
Hi Kristina--
One note: to avoid confusion it's best to ask people to sign up first, then go to your trip page and save (otherwise they might just click the save button, get directed to the sign in page, and not have the vote count).
1. Go to http://www.trazzler.com/signup and create an account
2. Go to the trip page and click "Save" to vote.
I hope this helps.

Megan
A comment on the problem "i think i have just made two accounts when syncing. how do i fix that?" in Trazzler:
Hi--
We didn't hear back, so we didn't make any changes... if you can confirm that these are both your accounts and let us know which one you would like to keep (christine-davis or cdavis9797), we can delete the superfluous account.

Hi Katie--
I see this writer account with four trips:
http://www.trazzler.com/users/kathryn...
But I don't see any others... Can you let us know what name, username, or email address it might be under? You can send the info to trazzler@trazzler.com (so you don't have to post your email address here on the forum).
Thanks!
Megan
P.S. Great mushroom!
Megan Cytron replied on February 25, 2010 12:37 to the idea "Display map alongside image" in Trazzler:
Hi Johan--
Good point. We're going to be offering an option on all of the trip list pages (search results, city lists, tag lists, etc.) to plot the results on a map. Perhaps we need to make a list page for recommendations that would allow the same map view. I'll put this on our "to discuss" list--I like the idea.
I'm happy to hear that the recommendations were relevant and interesting!

Megan Cytron replied on February 25, 2010 12:31 to the problem "Adjust zoom level on the map view" in Trazzler:
Hi Johan--
Thanks for the feedback. We are going to be making quite a few changes to the maps in the coming months and had this on the list. When we last undertook this, we had to choose the lowest common denominator zoom-wise (to avoid having maps in some areas show up blank). Since then, I think Google's api has improved and we have more options for zooming in on a per-trip basis.

Hi Vanessa--
It sounds like you are trying to sign up, as opposed to sign in... Can you try your username (vanessa-hughes) and password here?
http://www.trazzler.com/signin
Your account is also facebook connected, so you could try clicking the FB connect button on the above page and log into FB and that should log you in.
If that doesn't work, send us an email at trazzler@trazzler.com and we can reset your Trazzler password.

Megan Cytron replied on February 01, 2010 14:07 to the question "How does it work?" in Trazzler:
Hi Elena--
Your trip is public and you (and others) can find your trip on the site by searching or looking at the Costa Rica trips. Out of all of the trips published, our editors select a small group (less than 10%) to become "Trazzler Trips." These trips have a number and are recommended to our users. To be a Trazzler trip, it needs to be the right length, have no errors, and be written in our basic style (see http://www.trazzler.com/about/writing.... All other trips are user trips.
"Read by editor" or "review pending" only appears on the trips that you have written. This lets you know whether or not an editor has evaluated your trip.
I suggested logging in and looking at your trips, because this is the easiest way to find anything that you have written.

Megan

Hi Erica--
Sorry about the delay in announcing this. You can see the list of December freelancers here (with the exception of the NYC batch, which got posted a bit later so it's coming soon):

Thanks for taking the time to write.
