A comment on the idea "Slidescreen as a Widget" in Larva Labs:
Or, as mentioned in other places, implement multiple panels 'to the sides' that work like home screens as far as accepting shortcuts and widgets.. but only have one home application loaded at once thanks. ;) – Ipsquiggle, on February 11, 2010 17:04
Bakes' reply to "Slidescreen as a Widget" was just promoted to the most useful! Ipsquiggle and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.
Personally, I'd see the resource usage as actually being higher than the homescreen, because the default homescreen AND slidescreen would be in use at the same time.
I would prefer a set of sideways tabs, so that more data can be put on subsequent screens. Perhaps rudimentary widget support could be added for the other screens.
A comment on the idea "other twitter apps" in Larva Labs:
Several other "aggregator" apps simply have you "Choose" the application to launch. I.e. in Executive Assistant (which is poo compared to Slidescreen ;), when you click Twitter for the first time, it shows a list of all your apps and you choose the one you want. Since this only has to be done once, I think it's a reasonable compromise. – Ipsquiggle, on February 11, 2010 17:01-

A comment on the idea "Fav Contacts / Contacts List Screen" in Larva Labs:
Yes, basically any form of 'shortcut' that is, linking to content within an app.
The three obvious ones are:
* Linking to a contact directly (so that we can call or SMS from there, as you say) rather than opening dialer/messenger/contacts.
* Linking to a webpage directly via bookmark, rather than opening the browser, then the bookmark bar, then the page.
* In many productivity apps (including Gmail, etc.) a shortcut that opens the app with a specific tag selected (e.g. the "@Work" tag in my task list application).
All these things appear 'identical' on the standard home screen, I don't know how different they are behind the scenes though. They all show up when I select to add a "Shortcut" on the home screen. – Ipsquiggle, on February 11, 2010 16:57
A comment on the idea "SlideScreen as android lockscreen?" in Larva Labs:
Many of these 'lockscreen' apps actually just bypass the lock screen and open themselves right away, hence issues with accidental unlocking. I think this is very sloppy and more trouble than it's worth.
Larvalabs: Please don't do this unless you're going to do it right. :) – Ipsquiggle, on February 11, 2010 16:53

A comment on the idea "Adding / Removing Rows of Shortcut Icons" in Larva Labs:
YES! It's called 'slidescreen', not 'press-the-menu-button-screen'. There is a whole word to the left and right of the main screen just begging to be used for apps, widgets, and shortcuts. Especially shortcuts. – Ipsquiggle, on February 11, 2010 16:49
