Jakob, we made a change that may address (or at least identify) the problem. Can you try to upload and tell us the exact error message you get (if you still get an error)? – dp, on February 23, 2010 04:30

Yes, if the mix hasn't yet completed a given "play" when you deleted the track, you must listen all the way through for it to re-set to the new playlist order.
We've considered various ways we might best approach this issue and have taken this tack for now. (For example, one alternative would be to re-set the entire playlist back to the beginning for all.)
What do you think would make the most sense?

Ah, and had you tried this on our /troubleshoot page?:
"I click play and a track name appears but nothing plays and the spinner just keeps spinning...
You probably have FlashBlock, ClickToFlash, or a similar browser plugin. You'll have to add '8tracks.com' to the whitelist.
In Firefox, go to Tools->Add-Ons. Find the plugin and click 'preferences'. Go to the whitelist tab and add '8tracks.com'."

Okay, good insight. I'm going to pass this on to the team, as I don't believe we've yet noted an issue where this happened on certain Vista browsers but not ALL Vista browsers. – dp, on February 22, 2010 16:07

Hi Daniel, interesting! So perhaps you've a different error than what we've been seeing. On the other browsers does it say "File type not allowed"? – dp, on February 22, 2010 16:01

Hi Daniel,
I'm very sorry this isn't working for you (and a lot of other folks right now). We can't seem to find a way to re-produce the error.
Just to confirm, tho: you're on Vista and you can't upload on any available browser, correct? I posted to our blog about this bug one day last week: http://8tracks.tumblr.com/post/391810...
If you send me your email addy (dp at 8tracks dot com), I'll add you to our list and will notify you once we've been able to track down this bug. (Unfortunately we're not as responsive as we'd like to be as there are no employees at 8tracks yet - it's all a nights-and-weekends effort until we can raise funding.)

Hi Ben, I discussed with the team.
All we know about this "file type not supported error" is that it happens on Windows machines, in all 3 browsers (IE, FF, and Chrome), and it seems to appear and disappear without any change on the part of a DJ.
We think it still has to be some kind of local configuration bug but
until we can duplicate it (uploads always work fine for us in
parallels) the only advice we can give is to try restarting the
computer, try another browser, and failing that try another machine.
We'll keep trying to reproduce, however, so please send me an example of the file that's giving you this error and I'll try to do so.

Hi Jakob,
Okay, great. Still bothers me that the Flash uploader isn't working for you, especially with Firefox (i.e. a normal browser : ) )
Do you get any 'warnings' when you visit http://8tracks.com/troubleshoot?
dp replied on January 19, 2010 20:38 to the question "constant upload errors with 8tracks.com" in 8tracks:
Hi Jakob,
If you are uploading songs but getting errors after the songs complete, check to make sure that you are only uploading DRM-free files in .mp3 or .aac format.
If you cannot successfully upload any songs, try using our browser uploader, which may cure problems related to Adobe Flash:
http://8tracks.com/selection/upload
Lmk if either of these are fixing the issue.

Thanks Thomas. Could you send me a few of the files you're trying to upload at dp at 8tracks dot com? I'll try to reproduce this. – dp, on January 06, 2010 15:31

Hmm, okay. I still don't know why the Flash uploader wouldn't be working - we've had no other reports of this that weren't resolved (or at least that were reported).
The new /selection interface will hopefully be in place by spring (this is the only part of the site that's basically been untouched since launch on 8/8/8). – dp, on January 05, 2010 00:25

a.j. - Sorry for this. Here's 2 additional questions: (1) do you have the latest version of Flash for a particular browser, and (2) in Firefox, do you have the Adblock Firefox Add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire...? – dp, on January 04, 2010 22:56
